Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Bobbi Brown, CEO of her eponymous cosmetics company, began the trend toward natural-looking cosmetics with a simple philosophy: "Women want to look and feel like themselves, only prettier and more confident." Today, top editors at elite fashion magazines--including In Style, Vogue, Allure, and Harper's Bazaar--revere her, and celebrities and millions of "regular" women throughout the world swear by her beauty advice.

Now on her own 50th birthday, Bobbi Brown has written the book redefining beauty for women over 40, BOBBI BROWN LIVING BEAUTY. In this refreshing look at beauty and aging, Bobbi offers readers specific makeup tricks for a stunning face--showing how makeup can solve most of the "flaws" that many women go under the knife to fix. In fact, the right makeup can create an even skin tone, lift the cheeks, plump a smile...even take years off any woman's face. The key is to use makeup to enhance each woman's best features and showcase her natural beauty. With step-by-step makeup instructions and quotes from beautiful women like Marcia Gay Harden, Vera Wang, Susan Sarandon, and Lorraine Bracco, Bobbi Brown's natural, celebratory approach to aging will enlighten and inspire women everywhere.

5 out of 5 stars Beauty talk for "the ages"   March 9, 2007

Bobbi Brown has been a leading name in the beauty business for over 25 years, with her own well-known makeup products, and has made up some of the most well-known women in show business, such as Scarlett Johannson and Sienna Miller.

In this book, you will find much more than your standard tips--you find invaluable insight into your changing needs as you move into your 30s, 40s, 50, and 60s. Recognizing the changes that skin goes through with age, such as increased dryness, wrinkles, loss of tautness and lack of radiance, Bobbi provides us with sound advice and suggestions on the best way to maximize what you've got at every stage in life.

Instead of trying to change your aging face with botox or facelifts, or to cover it up with tons of makeup, which ends up looking worse, Bobbi shows you how to accentuate the positive and minimize the parts which you want to deflect attention from. Often, with skillfully applied concealer and blush, a haircut that complements you, and the right amount of color in the right places, you can be transformed. She illustrates this through a number of case studies, showing before and after pictures of women at all stages of life, and we can see firsthand what the right makeup can do.

This book was a refreshing change from the usual beauty books on the market, which tend to be mainly focused on the 20-something woman, and instead deals with the real issue of aging skin, and the need to adjust your makeup bag to match the adjustments in your physiology.

A very interesting read. I picked up a number of tips from for myself, my girlfriends, and my mom!

Armchair Interviews says: We have to "face" our aging face and learn from this book.

5 out of 5 stars A Well Needed Voice of Reason   March 5, 2007

Thank goodness for Bobbi Brown! How refreshing to have someone within the beauty industry - who sees and works with women who have had every cosmetic procedure known to humankind - try to inspire women over 40 to not get so crazed about looking completely line-free. She freely admits what she has tried, what she likes, what she doesn't. She doesn't say what you should or should not do, she simply tells you what she knows about it in a refreshingly candid way. No drama, no judgment, just good advice.

And a great message. Her philosophy is that women should embrace who they are, find their own unique beauty and celebrate it. Yes, use makeup and some products and procedures to help you look your absolute best. But relax, enjoy life and take care of yourself. And that will give you a glow that no plastic surgeon can replicate.

For anyone looking for a "how-to apply makeup" book, this is not a step by step, here's how we created every look book. But as someone who once worked as a makeup artist, I can tell you right now those don't really help very much because every face, every skin tone, every facial plane is different. You really need to know your own face, hair, skin tone and have fun experimenting or go to a makeup artist and have them help you replicate a look you like. This book is about having a overall approach and philosophy to your own beauty.

A great read and a good gift for anyone over - or nearing - 40.

5 out of 5 stars Ageing Gracefully   August 24, 2007

I loved this book so much it will become the next birthday present for all my close female friends. It is very reassuring to have information presented specifically for 'older' women, using models who are not twenty-something, and with practical advice which does not involve expensive procedures. Thank you Bobbi Brown - this book made me feel a little less 'invisible' as a fifty-something in a country driven by youth-worship.

5 out of 5 stars Bobbi Brown's gift for living beautifully for the common female   May 13, 2007

Bobbi Brown's book is beautifully put together with pictures of gorgeous women giving their secrets and it's not always about beauty products. I think Bobbi Brown has done it exquisitively. Good book to read and keep always. We common girls can be beautiful with what we have....not being someone else. Bobbi is very encouraging.

5 out of 5 stars Great, lots of brand new advice!   January 27, 2008

I used to work for a beauty and dermatological products' company and let me tell you that Bobbi did good research in all the treatments that are aimed to fight aging signs such as fine lines, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, etc. On the other hand, the tips that she includes are focused to a market that is rather different to teenagers and women in their twenties. The information is targeted to different aspects of aging and the approach is more holistic (nutrition, exercise, water, taking care of skin). I do recommend the book not only to women in their 40s and 50s, but also to younger women (I am 34 and still the book contains lots of useful information).
